MTB Trails in Clarens and Umhlanga

We going on a MTB holiday, starting in Clarens on Sunday 21 Feb 14.

 

Day after Beer fest.... i need some help from the local MTB Crews to advise where to go and ride, which is classic, but not too daunting, as my GF is still new on the bike. let me know, please. Kwazulu Natal is rated with some Epic Rides. woodlands, cane fields, nice long climbs, but manageable for newbies as well. what have you got for us?

My Buddy and his GF will be there in Clarens from the 21st and also wants to go ride. so the more info you can give, the better. whohoo, bring on the downhills (not Maritzburg DH Champiosnhip style)

Ask the tourist info place opposite the Protea Hotel in Clarens. They know all the local routes.

 

In KZN go to Holla trails in Ballito, else Giba a bit further away.

Speak to the guys at Clarens Xtreme. When we were there, one guy took us out on the sunday morning at 6 for some awesome singletrack riding around Clarens. You can also buy maps and access arm bands at their shop and go ride on your own.

Was in Clarens this weekend, and to be totally honest, the trails arent the best. Perhaps we are spoiled here in Durban with places like Giba, but dont go there expecting to be blasting around on manicured single track. The trail around town is a mix of town roads and a bit of single track, but its mostly slow and much more cross country than trail. Was a bit disappointed as had heard that the network was good in that area. Awesome views though!

hey I was in Clarens in Dec 2013 and road on-road from Kiara Lodge to off-road Rebellie farm and up the farm roads to a game farm, where i did the off-road 4x4 trail, nice game viewing and great scenery, did not have time and was alone else would have continued down the trail to the caledon river border with lesotho...
