  1. I got to sell - I don't use - red original - PVT msg me- I am in Jozi.
  2. why would you say Rambo? are you Rambo? no i haven't been bike jacked and don't hope to be. i have been mugged though at magnolia dell in pta in daylight by a few locals. i got out of that. On the bike the difference is the speed involved and where the hands are. society is becoming increasingly violent and brazen and this is the concern. also i mentioned once one is off the mtb when you have control of your hands and things have slowed down if they're still coming for you that's my point which you chose to ignore and went on your macho rant about shooting every pedestrian.
  3. ya for me its if you have been knocked off the bike and they take it- it is insured= then still come for you then you need the f/arm for self defence. these okes can be cruel drugged violent etc not everyone thinks the same or has same morals. not all cultures are equal tha'ts bs far left theory being proved wrong in europe daily. anyway.
  4. well how do you know they do not wanna murder you? they do not care- they will kill you for your bike- the long sentence? you just said courts are full and they get a wrist slap so what long sentence?
  5. AGREED- pet peave of mine as I love nature trees animals. Urbanisation needs to keep green lungs intact- in the USA they keep central park intact just an example- sad to see the green areas inside a city become smaller and smaller.
  6. Guys any advice as to whether it is worth getting the entry level Insta360 Nano?
  7. Pity you had to experience this. I have bought and sold many items on Bikehub and FB MP and I believe in honesty and good pricing. I sell items quickly due to good/value/low pricing and accurately describe the items. Anything brand new must be unused or kinda used once. Else it is not brand new or new- it is used. They misled you IMHO which is not cool. Karma sorts out people like that. A red flag for me is this "my wife only wore it for a few training sessions"- that tells me it is neither brand new nor new- it is a used item probably worn for quite a few sessions. The marks on the strap (after you received it) bear this out - however the scratch on the screen is a biggie and this watch is NOT new in any sense! that scratch should have been clearly indicated in the ad and with a pic of the scratch. Whoever the seller is, thumbs down.
  8. I tried the Garmin Instinct Solar- just wanted to say that it does charge the battery on this model, it's like a functional battery solar gps G-shock watch.
  9. Okay thanks that is helpful- I wasn't able to find that information So it seems I'll be okay sticking with these hubs, thanks guys for the comprehensive info!
  10. So specs should be- F- Giant Tracker Performance Boost 15x110, sealed bearing [R] - Giant Tracker Giant Sport QR141, loose ball What I got instead is: F- shimano FH-MT410 R- Shimano FH-MT401
  11. So I bought a new bike and the specs of the bike online said the front hub is a sealed Giant unit. In the bike shop I checked all specs except the hubs for some reason (trusted the web specs). Then I see the front hub is not a sealed unit and not a Giant hub either. (The rear hub is also not a Giant hub, different to the web specs) Dragons sports are the guys to contact and Gavin Salt tells me they made a running change and on dragon's website it is stated that the front hub is a non sealed unit and not a Giant hub. I didn't even think to check dragon's site beforehand to check for specs. Kinda disappointing. Gavin basically said it makes no difference and if I want a sealed hub I must wait until next year and then there may be rotor compatibility issues. Any thoughts on this from anyone who knows more than I do? And how much better is a sealed hub?
  12. Wow,.. Talk about karma.. sheesh... Modderfontein used to be called a Nature Reserve The signs and wording now just say Modderfontein Reserve The word Nature has been deleted... They also have removed many of the larger animals out of the reserve...
  13. Rode green today, been extended to 22km with the addition of the river section - awesome. The river section has extra distance too which is great. Nice ride. Well done.
  14. Modderfontein used to be called Modderfontein nature reserve When The Zendai chinese came along the name was changed to Modderfontein reserve... That for me said it all.. Reserved for development and complexes etc was only a matter of time until they skopped the animals out.. each year the "reserve" grows smaller... Oh well Progress? For some.. Pity that South Africa does not have proper safe protected places.. safe from crime and development and corruption.. like Central Park in NYC in the mighty USA... Starring to ride more around my area.. becoming a grateful tourist in my suburb..
  15. Rode there today- 25 min wait in the traffic queue just to get in- perhaps an online system will speed this up? like northern farm or buffelsdrift are online. The entrance road is an obstacle course unless you're in an auto 4x4! lol. Once in there were walkers but they thinned out deeper in- trails are looking good and had a great ride!
  16. I like nite rides- I've got the bar light & the helmet light & a jacket for when its freezing in winter like now at night- i'm keen for Wed nite rides........ something special about night riding! amazing how few people really like it.....
  17. ooh yeh runis of MODOR- my fav!! is it still rideable...?
  18. does suiker have a mtb off road trail ??? and is suiker in gauteng?
  19. Amazing news thanks Taroko! See you this week! woohoo..
  20. I 100% agree with everything you said. In addition, the data out of Italy shows nearly all the deaths from Covid19 where from the elderly who were fragile anyway (and Covid19 was their ending) and many who had underlying health issues some more than one. The younger people dying from Covid19 had underlying health issues too. The media is not reporting this properly and has caused a panic and vastly increased death projections that have not come to pass. This is why Sweden went with a softer lock down, but still some lock down and was criticised for it but now their thinking is vindicated. You cannot stop a virus, people will get ill and most will recover and some will die. Carriers will pass it on and not get ill. Those at high risk like the elderly and those of any age with health conditions should isolate. To stop a whole economy is not making sense as the economic destruction and mental health issues coming from this will be worse than the inevitable deaths. Added to this, our government has become draconian with states of disaster and curfews and who knows what is next. There is no clear plan so that citizens will know when to engage in work and e-commerce and travel etc. Our taxes pay this government and we are being treated like naughty children- from L5 to L4 and if we don't behave back to L5- and many cheer this madness on. Going into winter infections will increase, and they will increase as testing should improve- to go back to L5 is ridiculous and shows either panic thinking or ill informed thinking or a draconian government. In the USA it has come out that the media and many hospitals are playing the blame the Trump game- and reporting deaths which are usually attributed to flu or other factors, now to Covid19. The USA death figure is thus grossly overstated, and most of those dying have underlying health issues again. Politics rears its ugly head. Common sense is needed here as well not being stubborn regarding the latest research. Such research states that sunlight makes it hard for this virus to take hold- another reason why this government should allow citizens to jog or cycle alone with a mask or bandana near home. One spreads the virus more (should you have it which you likely don't) in the Spar when you queue to buy eggs and milk along with many other people. We need a healthy population mentally and physically and a healthy economy not so?
  21. The PPA's letter is ok. Just a call from them to get some exericse in which I support. A month of hard lock down and now another. More to come. I subscribe to the view that one should alone be allowed to walk or cycle in one's area within limits and reason by now. Wear a mask/buff and the virus does not do well outdoors. Good for physical health and mental health and productivity. Will help a lot. I find myself going grocey shopping with a mask just to get some air- let me RATHER do that alone walking around the block or on my bike and I'm around less people than in the Spar queue. I don't live in a huge mansion with a massive garden. Most people don't. As a city dweller I need some air. If you want to compare me to a shack dweller somewhere, that is pointless. I am not a shack dweller somewhere, for whatever reason. Just as I am not living in a huge mansion with a huge garden to run in or cycle in. These built in societal differences present in every society in the world, are acknowledged in Rama's speech last night whereby he outlined that the five levels can be implemented differently in different areas and at different times as needs dictate.
  22. I love nite rides- so few people did them when I did them- there is NO chance of Covid-19 haha. A nite ride loop sounds good and more formal/social can be safer too. Cool, thanks, sounds awesome.. - Wednesday Night Rides: Currently off until further notice due to COVID-19. I will continue this idea and also mark the trail signs with reflective tape. I am busy with some planning around this to make it more formal and social also create a specific night ride loop. -
  23. Awesome news! Will try head there Saturday- IS the WED night riding still a thing?
  24. Crazy stuff. I had noticed that the property developments are coming closer and closer each week really.. with access roads being built in the reserve. Its crazy as are there any protected green belts in GP anywhere..? It started to happen the moment they changed the name from Modderfontein Nature Reserve to Modderfontein Reserve- going from a nature reserve to a piece of land reserved to be sold off for development. Why are Africans so backward.. really why? Why do they not have a love and appreciation for nature for animals for walking and hiking and mountain biking and time out and places to revive the spirit and exercise and sunshine and fresh air and lakes and rivers and streams and pollution free clean water and and and...
  25. So I have used the Camelbak Mule which was awesome. Just all round almost perfect . Also the Osprey (Raptor) I used for a while, also awesome very well designed pack and bladder. Curently using the Source from Cape Union, it is a light pack and I like the bladder as it doesn't let the green gunk grow so my water tastes fresh without the plasticky taste. Have tried other packs, like Maxxed etc, which I would avoid.
