Hey everyone

I'm very new to mountain biking and walked into the LBS and saw this bike. I basically bought a very entry level beginner bike two weeks ago (avalanche xxix 29er) to see if this was just another itch or actually something that could develop into a serious hobby.

Well I'm two weeks down the line and ready to spend R13000 excluding gear on a bike, and this bike really got my attention and was also highly recommended by the guys at the Lbs. So my question is would you recommend this bike or something else in that price range? Would love to do some single tracks in the outeniqua mountains and eventually some friendly races further down the line this year.

Thanks in advance

Hi the scale has factory specs and Im 1,98m @ 80kg. I read somewhere that it was chosen as mtb of the year(hardtail) for 2012 or 2013 cant remember. Does the specs change by much each year or does it depend from brand to brand?

Welcome, and enjoy

Not to worry, you can always upgrade bits here and there, if the frame/size works for you.

Bought the bike and must say for my little knowledge wow. Will get myself a bike club membership and see what the future holds. Now the learning curve...

Will update bits and pieces as I go along and get more knowledge about this new awesome sport. Use to be a intense jogger but just realized that running fit and riding fit is two different kind of fits lol.

If I understand correctly cycling will build the muscle around my knees now rather than give me knee problems(main reason I stopped jogging downhill is not kind to ones knees).

Did my first 40km dirt today and must say at the end I was kaput but feeling much better than a 7km run!! Maybe the Tour de Tuli will see me next year, always been a dream!!
