Hi Liaan,

I think it is a great idea to organise something for Stellenbosch but I think it is also better to have it on both this forum as well as a general Stellenbosch Bike group?

A lot of information needs to be collected first, like age and fitness level, preferred surface (tar / gravel / dirt / etc), duration, start and end times, general resident where everyone stays (to work out logistics of a central point for all to arrive at and start riding), etc.

I myself are starting again, after 10 years, but am at such a level that I ride around 10km every 2nd day (duration of around 40min) and that is pushing me a lot (unfit - if looking at my Strava details) :-D

Plus I still ride in civvie clothes - being retrenched / jobless (and searching for vacancies) and on a tight budget does not allow me to get proper bike clothes :-(

At least I do have a great bike (2nd hand) with crash helmet. Now I ride to get fit, lose some weight, and get some time for myself to get my head clear of all those frustration of job-searching.

PM me, we can talk. I am in the area and try not to cycle here very day, but fail. :)

Eden and G-spot (mostly), Jonkers, Wannabee black route.

Give me a tinkle.

Hi,

I will send you a PM but like I said in my other post I am a total unfit rookie :-P

Thanks.

To everyone else: I think I will skip on the Jonkershoek until I am very sure I can take it without getting off the bike and pushing it along on foot :-P

To: Karman: yes, agree it is a bit of a mission to start. Have send you PM.

There are tons of routes at jonkers.... And who cares if you get off? I do that often... hehe

Hehe, check your PM first.

I get off a few times too. And with some tricky corners, I rather brake and walk thru it :-P

As for Jonkershoek, it is quite on the opposite side of where I am staying - meaning it is far! - gradually building up my fitness riding the gravels at Coetzenburg hockey fields.

Plus, I need to keep my time slots of 5pm - 6pm open otherwise I have an angry / concerned wife (she needs lifts from work to home) :-P

Bring her with on weekend and she can have some koek and tee at the shop. :nuke:

Hi guys

BMT morning rides are Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30am. This is more or less a set date, there is usually a road and a mtb group. Go like http://www.facebook.com/BMTcycles to be updated on that.

Nightrides are starting again now, 18:30 from Ride In on Thursday nights, go like http://www.facebook.com/stbmtb for that. Usually goes to Jonkers.

If any Q's of the above feel free to email me at jannosmit@gmail.com

Cheers

Janno

Sorry for being quiet at the moment: had some misfortunes that I had to sort out first (health issues, broken bike, out of job / searching for jobs).

Anyone staying in the Brandwatch / Welgelegen neighbourhood?

Am looking for group or riding partner that can accomodate me (slowly until my health & fitness improves).

Would like to explore some of the routes in my area everyone are speaking of, such as Eden, G-Spot, etc

Feel free to contact me via PM (where I will share my email address)
