For those that have never ridden at Welvanpas, where they are now, the climb up the Black Route is quite brutal - 1000m or so and then some really fast descending with some more climbing here and there in between... If its hot they will suffer. The back markers are going to die.

Sure it would be the road, not any other tracks through there that I know of

that is what I thought - so they going up the tar road ?

 

should be a great place to put some hammer down

Much harder than you can imagine.

The heat of the tar is quite draining and those low tyre pressures don't like to play ball .

I battle on fresh legs - never mind after a few hundred km's in the day and then add it in the middle of the epic
