So I had just advertised my GT Zaskar Carbon Pro for sale last night, an interested buyer asked me if the frame was cracked.

I replied no, there was just a chip in the clearcoat on the top tube. I decided to run through the bike this afternoon and I found something worrying...

2011 model, bought secondhand last year from a fellow hubber. Can anyone give some advice?

Is it just the clearcoat?

Is it worse?

Is it repairable and for how much?

As you can see the bike is in a great condition...

Bummed...

I am NOT a expert.

BUT, I would guess that is only clear coat. ALL fibre material have some sort of flex in it. Clear coat on the other hand, much less.

I am of the opinion that the point were the cracks is is a flex point for the frame, and thus causes the cracks.

BUT, I would rather take it to a repair shop. No idea where though.

Good luck.

Just my 2C.

Appears to be clearcoat. But that can be because there is movement there. If you were in Cpt I would have checked it out for you but see you in Jhb. Rather have it checked by some. Difficult to make full calculated decision from a photo.

That's great news!!

I'm sure potential buyer will be stoked.

Out of interest, what would the frame be worth on its own?

If you're the original owner of the bike, the frames carry a lifetime warranty.

The frame alone should be able to fetch R3000 2nd hand.
