Need to service my fork, but oil volumes changed between the two years. Anyone know how to tell the difference between the two models? There was a change in the damper design and stantion length.

Guy at Cape Cycles explained how to use the manufacturing code, but the linebwas not great.

Measure the length of the damper from the bottom of the flange on the topcap to the middle of the o-ring on the damper foot, then fill the damper tube to 10mm above that level - the oil level on most current RS dampers is 90mm. Make sure you cycle the damper a few times before measuring to get any air trapped below the rebound piston out.

Look in the back of the fork arch, ... in the little grooves on the top left,.. it will have a 11 or 12 ,.. but that is on the lowers,..so unless your uppers have been changed thats the year model

Can you maybe give us a picture of what you mean? I have a fork that I don't know if it is a SID or Reba...says Sid on the outside but when you open it, it looks like a Reba on the inside.....

Did sum1 try bump their status by putting sid stickers on a reeba? lol...

Would think they similar except for internals being lighter and maybe ti like my reeba rlt ti.. would think if its 100mm its the same but maybe cause reeba can go 120mm, you will be able to tell using the oil level method.

My weekend warrior fix wont work here... thats why drew gets paid for the real questions .. haha  ^_^

Don't think so, but when you look at the air side the SID's internals look exactly like what my other Reba looks like.

Not as clear as I could draw it myself, but basically the oil needs to cover the damper foot as per the diagram. Too low and there's no damping in the initial part of the stroke, too much and there's nowhere for the displaced oil to go and you get hydraulic lock.

RS dampers need 10mm of oil above the damper foot.

Hope this explains it a bit better, my teaching skills aren't the finest.
