Help me find Bike

Im new to the forum (first post). So pls forgive me if i posted this in the wrong place.

I have entered a triathlon that does not allow me to use my MTB. So I'm quiet desperate for some advice from you hubbers.

Im i need of a road bike. My hieght is 178cm. Im looking at a entry level bike with a carbon fork. That gives you some idea of my budget.

Im skeptical of buying second hand as I'm sceard the wool will be pulled over my eyes and a buy a dud. I'm such a noob.

If your budget is low and only want new, then contact Solomons in Pretoria. They have a range of Axis bikes at give away prices (10 speed bikes for under R5k and full Tiagra for R6999). To my knowledge, they will post to you in Western Cape. Their ads are in Ride and Bicycling magazines.

Their is very little that can go wrong on a roadbike and you will get twice the bike buying second hand. Look for bikes in your size ( given your hight, around 54 - 56) and budget on theHub and when you see something you like, ask the forum for advice.

So far these are the new bike options:

Axis ar 40

Giant tcr 2

Merida scul lite 901

Marida ride lite 91

Marida race lite 901

And then there is a trek, still waiting on modle.

You don't mention price or specs, but all things being equal, I would choose the Giant.

 

Another good and value for money brand is Silverback. Momsen also had a Tiagra specced road bike for a while, you might still find one. They were also good value for money.
