Hi all

 

Had the Scalpel 3 fork and shock serviced...

 

It seems they returned the bike with the rebound turned all the way to the negative.

 

How many clicks in are you running,

 

Rider = 68kg.

From what I have understood about rebound is that it's setting is completely up to you. I guess it will take some experimenting to find that "sweet spot". I personally don't enjoy too slow rebound so much, so I tend to have it faster.

 

I have struggled with this question too, in the past, and this is the end I came to. I hope this helps?

 

I remember in the beginning it would bug the crap out of me though, and in the end I am pretty sure I started imagining the "I can't ride on this setting, it's making the bike jittery" feelings, so eventually I just left it be.

Hi there

 

I've gone with a mid way setting for now, it's got 14 clicks, so went with 7 clicks out,

 

gone with the same logic on the shock for now.

Ok, wife says the front is a bit to lively, going over pumps it is bouncy.

 

Do I turn to the - or the +... my guess, -

+ = more damping = slower, - = less damping = faster.

 

Set it slow enough so it doesn't want to kick you off over big bumps but fast enough so it recovers in between hits. Too fast and you're riding a pogo stick, too slow and the fork will eventually compress all the way down and become harsh over successive hits. The setting will vary with spring rate, which varies by rider weight and riding style, which is why there's an adjustment knob to start with.

I am a little undecided, generally adjust my fork to suit my day.

 

I run a lower pressure and a faster rebound for rougher racers, ( run 2-3 mm more sag). This improves the feel of the bike and keeps the front wheel in contact with the ground. A faster rebound keeps the shock from running out of travel. Its kinder to your hands, forearms and gives the bike a little more predictability but not slushy enough to push the fork through its travel.

 

I come from a MX/endure back ground and my marathon bike up like an enduro machine.
