I've got a 2x10 on my mtb with a quarq powermeter.

 

How easy is it to convert to 1x10/11 while keeping the power meter? Can I just take off the inside chainring? What about the bolt arms?

Use track chainring bolts, or file down a set of standard ones

I'm not mechanically inclined (except for that I can screw anything). I'm gonna need a picture here

You just need short chainring bolts, you can order specific from your LBS or also get track chainring bolts which are shorter. The reason being once you go to one chainring your existing bolts will be too long so the chainring will not be tight.

 

If you don't want to go to the expense then you can file down the bolts to make them shorter or use a washer on the inside to take up the space that was left when you removed one of the chainrings.

 

If you are not mechanically minded, try google or youtube to get an idea first before attempting.

 

You will also have to change your chainring to a narrow/wide one and have a clutch RD, else will need to run a chain guide.

Also looking at the Quarq website, it looks like they are 5 bolt chainrings. 110 BCD?

yeh - i'd prolly go for a 36T or something thereabouts.

 

So its literally just a case of shorter bolts and getting a chainring with matching BCD?

 

doesnt sound too difficult
