Thanks, maybe time to try it again after 10+ years...

 

One more question then: If its lighter and improves handling (as you mention), I guess the theory is that you can go faster at the expense of comfort. This makes me wonder why you don't see them on podiums of marathon type races? Is it fair to say that you lose all the gain that you make on the climbs on the downhills and technical sections?

now hold your horse...they are faster on the uphills. The downhills will always be dominated by suspension.

 

The difference is...the podium contenders are fast everywhere...they climb well and descend well and ride like the clappers on the flats. They won't gain enough of and advantage on the hills to make it up on the downs....why? because they are pros, that is their job. The standard weekend warrior is a different story....you will make up more time on the hills than the downs...

I ride with an On One and am happy with it so far, not tried any of the others so cannot compare

I have a Chinese carbon on my Momsen. Love it. Cant fault it in any way what so ever. :thumbup: :thumbup: Damn good bang for your buck.
