Speculation is not a science, and cycling remember is a sport of circumstance.

Given the circumstances of Hunter's TDF stage win, nobody can argue that had Boonen not crashed, Hunter would still be looking for that win. But he did crash, and the circumstances allowed Hunter to win, only just. But win he did.

I would not say Hunter is pure class on the bike, he's among the best in the world no doubt, but pure class would have won a stage in his first TDF.

As for the testing, I have dealt with DFS in SA, and their testing protocol in Bloem is up to standard.

I however, am never ceased to be amazed at how many folk point at Chunky.

But I'm always more amazed at just how many people that slate him, actually know him personally.

You guys need to get a flippin wake up call.

This is cycling, and if you want morally upright people...go hang out with lawyers.

But his first TDF he was riding for phonak's main druggie... do u still think he could have won a stage as a domestique?

No mistake, Hunter is good. But so too is George.

Everyone forgets Macleod (the only SA rider to ride on an actual ProTour team)

These guys all suffer on the roads of Europe...but it does not give them the right to behave like total morons when they race back here...

In Robert's first TdF in 2001 he was still riding for Lampre and also got very close to a win but unfortunately failed to finish the tour

he might have won a stage in his first tour (or maybe it was his second) with lampre when he was in a break with team-mates, unfortunately crap team tactics prevented him from winning on the day... he would also have ended up in yellow with time bonus if I remember correctly!

And after losing that stage he tried to push his bike through the tar..

OMG...If I had of gone on the same team ride as Robbie back when he was still with Canola, maybe I could have had the success that he had.(Sounds pathetic doesnt it?)

Stop arguing about things you guys clearly have no knowledge of...

He didnt win a stage, or a yellow jersey, and all the hindsight in the world cannot change that

If memory serves me correct, he only got the White best young rider jersey in his 1st tour

Hunter is immortal. He deserves all the credit for his win in the TDF.

Boonen wins when McEwen is not there, Ullrich would have won as many tours if Lance was not there. I would have won a local league ride if 90% of the riders were not there!

And McEwen wins if he doesn't head bud/shoulder/kick someone out of his way to the finish line Big%20smile
