David is still South Africas best rider.

Bit of a pity that Hunter had to resort to spitting in Davids face. Not nice to see those two at eachothers throat.

wasnt it the other way round?  ek vra maar net

Jip

Mud Dee, it was actualy the other way around. Hunter spat at David. that is why Hunter received the fine.

So is it the hairy back rock spider that can spray its vemon into his enemies eyes,

or is it the super slinky Cape Spitting Cobra (known to hide in high places and attack from heights)?

Nope.

Was Hunter that spat in Davids face after David rode away from him.

as much as I tend to agree with that statement - he does seem to have a hard time actually winning races -

but I spose thats a trait of a tour specialist, always up there on the stages and ending high on the GC - he better win the Giro if wants to prove he's the best.

Ja agree with Chunky, it is a pity that we have so few world class cyclists and those we have spend more time concentrating on each other than on racing when they are in the same race.

That said, Waynes photos seem to prove that DG was always in the thick of the action yesterday - you have to give him credit for his fighting spirit.

BW have also upped their game in terms of their DS's ability to control things  (I am about as chuffed to see Corti here as I am some of the names he brought - he is of the best tacticians around and is revered where his reputation is known). Similar to Bruyneel, when you have the lead and the most dedicated team you just suffocate the opposition - (the heat helps)

While I have no real regard for Basso until he serves his time (which he has said he will do - no pathetic court cases), I would love to see what BW/ Corti/ Basso could do. BW have really stepped it up in euro this year with the invites they have received and it will be interesting to see how they handle/ manage all of the invites with a far reduced squad, partic if some injuries occur like last year.

I would be keen hear some insights into the tactics, (rather than slagging riders), of those that have had a ride in the team cars over the past couple of days, perhaps Doug has quite a way to go in notching up some DS experience.

PS: looks like DG should have insisted on having Mannie as his domestique - shades of Bolts grafting for Ullrich in the heat - serious respect for Mannie - what an example to the younger riders

Agreed, it's nice to know the real story now....I always feel kinda sorry for DG, its not easy going through life being labled as a difficult person.....I should know WinkCry

Its much easier to win races as a sprinter.

David has medalled at Worlds in the TT, at Commonwealth Games in both the road race and Time trial.

He podiumed in malaysia with the whole SA team ridinng against him. He won the Giro three times. On One occasion he had no team mates that could help and he was against 4 HSBC riders all week.

Spoke to him last night and he said there is no chance of winning now. MTN missed the big move on day one and he was isolated by BW. I put money on it thought that he wins the Hillclimb tomorrow, easily.

Strange that Mannie is allowed to race when Kevin and Melt got prevented from starting because they are MTN riders?!

helps when you have your UCI licence from Namibia and not from South Africa, the land of the hair splitters.
