Hi Guys

I have a Epic Comp 29er (Ally) which has a RockShox front fork with manual lockout. I noticed that it has a little loop on it which could indicate the use of a remotely mounted lockout switch?

Is this possible at all? If so I would like to add that feature?

Please help

Thanks

Ok, OP and Kenda - what forks do you have? If they're both Rockshox you'll most likely be able to meet for a beer and swap dampers.

Otherwise you're each in for about a grand.

Yeah I know.... It's pricy....I'm running a fox float....

@born2boost, I hate all the extra cables.... It's just personal preference... There's also more that can go wrong. It irritates the hell out of me.

lol...please explain why? I would think it makes things easier? I am pretty new to all this so any help is appreciated!

It's really no effort to reach down and switch.... I'm running CTD so I switch between climb, descent and trail.

Are your arms really short? Then its a good idea. Otherwise why bother?

Kenda, the CTD remote-ectomy is a very simple job that just requires a switch, 2 springs, a washer and a ball bearing. Wait, make that 4 ball bearings if it's your first one, the first 3 will end up in orbit. Again, if you find someone who wants a remote on their CTD it's a straight swap - the cartridge is the same.

Would love a remote on mt CTD shock, but it seems that the one with a remote is a different animal. Dreamt up a hydraulic solution, but that's still in the clouds.

The shock is actually the same unit, but with different adjusters. Problem is the adjusters aren't available separately, which is annoying.

I have a new Rockshox 29" RL fork with a remote lock out. I want to convert it to a manual lock out. Any advise on how to go about this?

my opinion:  if you ride an MTB that comes with suspension, ride it with suspension.  This locking out shocks and forks every time that you get to the top or the bottom of a hill is a real pain in the a$$, especially when you hit a bump at speed just to realize that you forgot to de-lockout when you got to the top...  a bike isn't that hard to pedal with a suspension fork that is actually working...

I ride a bike with a 140mm pike and haven't even bothered to change it from "open" to any of the other stiffer settings despite riding 1600km over the past 4 months including lots of dirt roads.

Replace the compression damper assembly with a TK or RCT3, depending on how much adjustability you want. You'll need the replacement damper, a 24mm spanner and about 5 minutes.
