Slide show effect on videos

This from down loaded videos - thus no online connection.

Can it be that my laptop is not powerfull enough

It is a small Asus Eee PC duel core

1 gig ram

Will it make any difference if I use the HDMI connection in sted?

Have a feeling the 1 gig ram is too little???

Is it possible to download a spesific video player perhaps so that Virtual Trainer use that when playing the video's?

Seems like I am the only one with the problem. Thus I am doing something wrong...lol

I only get the slide show effect from Google. On downloaded videos it works like a dream. Using it at present on 1 of those small pc/tablet units at present. Not sure of the amount of ram right now, but my guess is 1 gig is your problem.

It may not have to be that high, but the idea is to get as much resistance as you can possibly turn over hence we said 800W, this generally helps by resetting the motor that moves the magnets as when you back off the resistance it will allow the magnets to clear the drum that houses them.

To get the resistance/gradient that high you go into freeride mode and set the target power as high as it will go, ride it at that for 30 secs or as long as possible and bring the resistance back down - sorry, I am repeating my mail to you but this may be of some help to others if the same thing happens.

If you don't come right and can't wait then drop us a mail and we can arrange to get the unit up to us to try and sort out.

Hi Dave,

Would it be normal to be able to push 800w on the powerbeam without tire slipping and a constant resistance ?

I ask because there is no way possible I could get there without wheel slipping and having a seriously distorted pedal stroke of push pull pedalling squares at below 50 cadence.

I have no problem hitting 800plus watts on powertap and vector pedals, but have never seen above 600 on my powerbeam ?

I think, if I am correct here, the 800 watt figure is not an absolute figure. It just means push out the maximum wattage for 30 seconds, then hopefully Dave will tell me, or correct me, you "back off" on the pedals dropping the resistance and hopefully the magnets are "realigned".

understood, my query is more that I cant even get close to that kind of wattage on my powerbeam ?

I read these numbers and cry. I may just be able to hit 750 for a microsecond but it will be too quick to register - like kung fu and all.

Hi

Again something I learned and want to share:

You can not use a 1 gig RAM computer / laptop to run Desktop version of VIrtual Trainer.

You will have a "slide show effect" on the video routes ( pre down loaded).

I use now a 2 gig one. - and video's runs perfectly.

Will soon be upgrading to a 4 or 6 gig ram maschine.

Seems it is now sorted. Would love to upload the sound file to this site, but it won't let me, so guys can hear it. I took a chance, which is maybe what I should have done originally before running and crying to you guys.

I used the Joule GPS and did a calibration. Simple as that. During the calibration it went silent. We then also calibrated the unit with the VT software (which I believe would have fixed it as well).

I then disconnected all the power to let it cool down for a few minutes, then reconnected it and did a short ride in VT. All working great.

Dave, a big thanks to you and your guys for the quick responses.

I wanted to cycle on Sunday morning so chose a route with video that Dave uploaded. I think it was used in a race as a few of the names here also shows on the list of names with times. It is the Gordonsbay to Pringles Bay 25km route.

Jorrie was fastest with 40min or so, based on previous experience I thought to aim for an hour :-( In any case, found a guy that did it in 1:01 so made him my virtual partner. The idea was to beat him and ensure my 1hr ride. But the guy did it in 45min???

Can't compare my ride with him in detail as I stupidly did it in train and not race mode :-( Any ideas on why he would be so much quicker than what his initial workout showed?

Kids' school concert. :(

(I know I should me more positive and all that but it is really not my thing. I REALLY wanted to race)

It is a nice route. I will do a race against you guys later as virtual partner.

Enjoy!!
