I am still out. Two courses of antibiotics to sort me out. Will see Thursday evening, if someone puts up a nice race for old guys. ^_^

Sorry to hear that bud, yes rather make sure you 100% ok first. one step back and 2 forwards rather than the other way around.

Old guys, old like Andrew Maclean....LOL

No way. He is still a youngster.

I watched the race tonight. Feedback during the race was excellent. Just after 7 odd kms the jakkals went red and stopped.

During the race Flippie turned red on 5 occasions, The last time was right at the end, the system threw him back to the start line showing 0 kms travelled. As each person finished they turned red, no indication that they had actually finished.

Very confusing that. When going to the actual race results, they are correct. I think Dave and the boys should look at this.

Just after the 30 km mark I thought the Doc cobuswessels was out hunting rabbit and mongoose, not to be.

Good going guys. Flippie well done.

My 2 cents.

Jeez boys, what a session. I entertained all kinds of clever ideas but my heart spiked as soon as I even thought of going harder. You just can't beat these races for intensity. Love it. I must admit I found myself watching the front guys and enjoying the Swiss/Saffa duel so much that I lost focus at times.

I nearly missed the start and forgot to download the route... There are way to many clicks that have to be done and the calibration in a very short time, luckily it all worked and I made it with a minute to spare, my computer clock was ahead if the race clock and thought I had missed the start....catastrophic :-)

You guys were putting out good power figures I kept looking and comparing to mine thinking I have no hope to catch you unless you tired at the end....but it was me that tired and then bloody frostie tried his best to sneak up on me in the last few km's forcing me to push harder than I wanted to.

Riding with others defenitely helps to motivate a person to do more than what u normally would do alone.

Good stuff chaps

Btw what happened to turfjakkals?

thanks Chaps, enjoyed that last night.

Is the virtual training website working for anyone? The front page only appears correctly on the beta link Dave sent. Also, its showing you all with Senagalese flags, except for swiss, he's a zimbo.

Hahahaha

JA the flags are a stuff up, i uploaded a route on the weekend and it assigned an american flag to me when you view the route (Zug Riveria) but my profile flag is still the swissie flag.....

I also found it difficult to find the login page for the virtual training after the update, the login button that appears on top of the page does not work for the virtual training function and i could only find it by clicking the "check out the community" button hidden near the bottom of the Virtual overview page.

I was well under par (50W below racing) but I still took 1:17 to do it. I certainly need a compact for this route. I used "Racing" mode so that it can be used for a training partner. Alas it is all lost in cyberspace. It will be a very hard racing route and I would suggest we only use it in a weight equalised race because fatties like myself will die in a real life simulation. Nice route. Post a few pics- I would love to know what it really looks like...

Thanks, interesting..... my time in real life was 1:21 which was not race pace either and i had the benefit of freewheeling a bit on the downhills, so your time imo was pretty good.

I actually took some pics during the ride with the intention of trying to link them to the route on the virtual site. Unfortunately i did not take enough pics i.e. at the top of the climbs or of the hill where the climbs are located (you can see it it from the start point which is on the other side of the lake. It was such a nice day for photos, one of those crystal clear autumn days...probably wont get another chance like that for awhile.

Here's the pics i did take

View over looking the village Immensee, the start point is on the right side closer to the big mountain in shade.

The start, the route follows the lake around the bottom of the closest mountain on the right

Taken on the first climb (easy one), this is why the grass is so green :whistling: ... farmers spraying liquid ***

The first easy climb goes through the town on the other side of the lake, between the 2 hills.

The second and steep 1 km climb is on the left hill, this climb actually carries on for about 5 km but we only did the 1st km... its hell on a road bike.

The road between the 2nd and 3rd climb, the entire route follows the shores of the lake, except when climbing then we just turn off and head uphill and back down to the lake.
