When buying on Gumtree, always insist on a telephonic converation. By asking difficult questions you can get a fair idea of whether you are dealing with a good person or a crook. Much easier than to judge an e-mail or an SMS. If you have the slightest misgiving, trust your instinct and walk away from it. Be very wary of deals that are too good to be true or where the seller wants to rush. If you are alone, meet in front of a cop shop. Wait for the seller to leave and make sure you are not followed. Preferably don't go to an address in a dodgy area. If the place looks scaly, drive past and let it go. Preferably don't go alone.
