Going to be tough weekend.

Haven't ridden this week, getting back to town on Friday, Durbie Dash on Saturday and Olive Oil on Sunday.

Luckily Ashanti is round the corner.

They have cold beer and good food.

I am afraid its through a Tik infested part of Paarl. My R75 000 mtb will be very hard for them to ignore.

The race starts on Buffet Olives farm, the 42km & 25km go into the forest on the slopes of Du Toits kloof, the long then does a loop all the way out to the Huguenot tunnel bridge (under the N1), all through private farm land. So it does not not actually near these areas. No bikes have been stolen at this event since 2008 (if my memory serves me correctly), except for a cheap 24" bike that was "borrowed" by one of the farm children, but found quite soon after. As for any MTB event, still prudent not to let your expensive steed out of sight.

The 42km course passes over Ashanti. You could stop for a cold one befor you attempt the last 10km  :w00t:

I know, I was referring to another question. Another hubber asked if I was going to cycle to the event from my house. Your event is tops, going for my third one this sunday.

I hope with a bike like that you then plan on making podium, if not even winning!

Tough race with the wind and heat.  Congrats to all who finished.  Sadly I had a barrage of asthma attacks through the night because of all the crap the SE blew up and called it quits.  However, I took my son through and he did quite well in the 25km.  Maybe between 10th and 13th.  Will see when the results goes up.

Absolute fantastic event! First time I've done it, and had no idea what to expect. That first climb was killer, and by the second climb I was already killed, the last one I was....well I wasn't anymore by then.

I loved the forest singletrack, and that waterfall at the end was just freakn beautiful, I grew up in Knysna, so that kinda scenery was right down my alley

What a rediculously strong field, the Bulls pairing Stefan Sahm and his partner, Louis Bressler, Konny Looser, to but name a few, and some other mountain goats filling the line up...

I was right behind the Bulls Team, till that last 42kms, then they pulled away

Jokes aside, awesome event, welldone Geddan and the guys, no wonder you had such a great turn out, well worth the money and the time

I managed a 2h15mins for the 42km

And there I thought I'd at long last get to meet "the Johny Bravo", only to find out he had a babbelas LOL!!

I really enjoyed it, and contrary to what I felt like at the start, actually felt strong in the race

Will definitely skip Durbie dash next year and do this one instead
