This might be a bit late, but to all the new Sony Action Cam owners;

Enjoy, it's an awesome little piece of kit that easily stacks up to most GoPro's.

The "HandyCam" cradle/accessory is awesome too.

 

Warning though, the Sony bike mount and quick release mounts are k@k. Do yourself a favor and get a little converter so you can use GoPro mounts.

And in reverse, get the GP tripod adapter and use the Sony mounts, :-) I like that their bar mount swivels, gonna try it out when i get home (Ordered yesterday @ 2pm, was on my desk by 1pm today)

I got mine from dx.com.

Regular post slow boat from china post takes more or less 5 weeks.(10 days to get to SA the rest in SA postal services limbo)

The last DHL I did took 7 working days.

 

But I'm sure one could get them locally too if you knew what to ask for...

 

Or is there perhaps anyone with a CNC machine/ 3D printer that would make us a couple?

this is what I would go for, but before I spend money on mounts again, I want to arrange an Action Cam Groenkloof day with the mates that have Action cams. So we can get a feel for what works and what doesn't.

So now that we've had them for a while, how are things going? I am pretty impressed by the video I must say and have been mucking around with it.

 

Some things I have noticed

 

1) when I use the camera on the bar mount and have my Garmin 800 on then for some reason the Garmin struggles to get satellite reception, makes no sense to me since surely satellite and WiFi shouldn't interfere with each other?

 

2) I get better video with the 'steadyshot' off, doesn't make sense to me but ja thats what I see.

 

Have now got the helmet mount on and will mess around with that a bit today, any news on the chest and other mounts?

Just note that the package might get lost in the mail. And some things are not shipped to SA. Even though they tell you that they do...
