Yes...100% sure. Athletes guide also says 1st water point at 22.5km which is at the lion park

Thinking about this more... this would mean that cycling and running would be on the same road? Cyclists among runners? Surely SURELY NOT

Lots of disinformation here...sheeeesh

Route has been changed to a 2 lap ..not because of not being able to get road closure but because some local residents were bitterly annoyed after initially agreeing....so the route is as follows:

From heia turn left onto beyers then right onto the road just before valverde up to malingongwe u turn at malibongewe back to valverde the. Turn rig and follow cradle to lion and rhino park , u turn there an back to heia entrance where u then do lap 2 following same route...each lap is around 45...

More than enou space without drafting ...I have done ultras with more competitors and 3 laps of 30

Runners and cyclists will be separated...just like at iron man where they share the road at some point..

No...not wrong info... I stated the bike is now 2 laps and the bike route is basically what you are describing. That is the info that I got from someone that was at race briefing. Also tried to get more info on their social platforms but no response as yet. If they made the info available then there would be no confusion.

So...basically bike is 2 laps and not 1...and I suppose the rest of the people will find that out at race briefing if they are not Reading this chat

Thanks for the info. So the Friday before the event the "residents" don't want road closure? Sounds strange to me.

It's severely frustrating because there always seems to be an issue with these guys. I'm not doubting two 45 laps can't work but doesn't change disappointment. Also with this bunch having cyclists amongst runners I want to see how that is handled....

My understanding is there will be road closures..but stand to be corrected on this

There was always going to be cyclists and runners at the same time on the same piece of road, this is nota new thing

There was an email circulating around to the businesses and venues in Magalies earlier this week about the road closure, my reply was that everyone has known about this for sometime so why all the issues now a few days before the event?

The change in course is unfortunate. It will be full 90km.

Today residents put broken glass on the road to interfere with the CradleRock race. Full road closure was approved by the Municipality. The Race Director changed the course for the the Athletes' safety.

Probably the same narrow minded individuals who put thumb tacks on the road previously.

As for having cyclists and runners on the same stretch of road, this is a big road with good lane marking it is a complete non issue.

If we can still reg and check in tomorrow please let me know, due to unforeseen circumstances. I could not make it today.

Not permitted but if you beg nicely they may let you. They are more friendly and flexible than IMSA.

They did give special dispensation to Jewish athletes. Maybe you can get a quickie conversion.

At the briefing they also said that the road would be swept in the morning in case the residents get too clever overnight. Must have got themselves some fancy machine.
