Rest easy, my gap is abut 3 times that big and all is good in the world. Just make sure you get full Stainless sealed bearings ie. (Cane Creek) as they last way longer

Some headsets come with seals. Some don't. Both of my morewoods don't have a seal. But they use sealed bearings. The two cheap bikes I have have seals, but they run cage bearings....Old school loose bearings with grease.

Quick answer is your headset doesn't have/need a seal. The sealed bearings are already sealed. Haha so many seals

I believe the seal comes with the head set and not fork, but most headsets don't.

 

I have never seen any seal at the bottom bearing if it is a sealed bearing....there is a "seal" read dustcover at the top on some headsets

Some do have a seal of some sort as per this Cane Creek jobbie.

 

 

Im refering to the blue rubber seal around the crown race
