I rode Renes Rumble 10 days back for the first time in a while....awesome. the trails are all in good condition if a bit dusty. There are so many choices that really no prob if one or two sections are closed.

If you can try and ride Bat outa hell it's off the hook.

As Ryan has said the trail is closed as per the request of SAPPI. No point upsetting landowners to ride a trail that isn't going anywhere. Save it for another trip.

To the OP, I'd suggest the Karkloof 30km loop. It starts and ends at the club (so coffee, food, showers & indemnities all available here), the route is well sign posted and is just good riding with some great scenery along the way.

The Outback trails are awesome but will it be a tough'ish day out and the trails are a touch more technical than those closer the club.

The wedding is at a place called windmills! Is that far from were we riding?

No the Windmills is not from from Howick, Karkloof or Hilton. all within 40 km

Looks like Windmills is on the Currys Post road so shouldn't be more than 30kms away if you take Curry Post (but there will be a portion of dirt road). On the N3 probably about 40km.

Nottingham Rd/ Balgowan area. An option is to get hold of Big Wheel MTB at St Ives. They may help out with a ride a little closer. As above www.bigwheel.co.za

Howick Trails are also a little closer and start from Greendales Spar centre in Howick.

Worth the effort to get to Karkloof and do the 30km loop...

There is that 15km loop down to the waterfall that is awesome, but is a bit on the tech side for some.
