Do you guys remember when BigH once posted a photo of his mountain bike, and mentioned that he serviced the fork not long before that.

 

The stanchions were the wrong way round installed in the lowers, and after a few pointed it out, he got very defensive and angry.  Was moer funny.

Sometimes shifters work better when mounted to the top tube...with a cable tie

That's actually something dirt jumpers do so they can do bar spins.

Can't find any pics now, but once used a stick found on the side of a trail to fix a McGuyvered SS tensioner at Tokai when the proper one exploded ... anyway, the stick fix tensioner served me well for a month or two after that.

 

Pic below is taken riding the bike later in the day after the fix
