For the money The Crow's Felt FC advertised on the hub is a steal. Frame alone goes for R12k and it has to be one of the nicest best balanced (stiff/agile vs comfortable/not harsh) frames on the market.

Throw in the EC90 SL fork and you have a winner!

Racman' date=' just curious why you included the Specialized but excluded Giant.  Both Taiwanese frames (but designed in the USA of course).[/quote']

I just don't seem to like the Giant road bikes at all - nothing personal Wink

(now the Giant Anthem 0 or Anthem 1 is another story.Thumbs%20Up)

This is what happened to my Giant Anthem:

Cracked on day 2 at Sani and left me on my ass in the forest before Nick's pass.

Rode with the cracked frame and dodgy rear end to the finish.  Had only a cm or so before the whole seatpost would have snapped off.

I am getting a new frame under warranty from Giant (with no hassles by the way), but a crack like that does make me a little wary.  I know Spidey has had his share of problems with bikes, but I can't find a similar replacement for either an Anthem or my TCR Comp (TCR C series these days) road bike, that offers the same value for money.  I like the look of other stuff, but keep coming back to Giant as you always seem to pay more for less with other brands.  You can pay less for less but money isn't really the issue - more about what I can get for the money.

Just as a matter of interest, what sort of seatpost extension were you running?

Yip, Felt FC is a good choice. Before I decided on this frame I test rode almost evry single frame or bike there is in carbon form and the Felt came out tops for me. Granted there were some "nicer" and lighter frames, but at a premium. Like a Pinarello Prince for instence. Awesome frame, great heritage, not the lightest but light enough, freaking beautiful...but DAMN expspensive for what it is.

If you wanna blow your budget go for a Cervelo, if not, get the Felt.
