Hi All,

I would like to do 150 - 200km sessions on some weekends. Any ideas on routes that is possible around Gauteng hopefully mostly on dirt.

We have a run to the Vaal dam and back from rietvlei. 200km mostly dirt.

Mind games. Nothing more insulting than referring to a Dutchman as Belgian ;)

Dont worry, I can handle it.. As I am Also German/Italian.. Living in Belgium, Training like a Flandrien.. Motivation of a hole European Pro peloton, and loving South Africa.. confused? :w00t:

Well I take it as it comes.. what can I change..

Sounds like us South Africans are doomed before the event even starts!

South Africans training like South Africans in South Africa...

So that means you should take about 22hrs to do 36One [emoji12]

Hopefully you can give that Belgian a go and stop him from winning our races.

Dane, 1st year i rode a 17h48 & came 2nd. Seems thats my spot, cant get rid of it. Last year got a massive sidewall cut which dented rim. Had to walk 10kms to a waterpoint at bout 2pm, think you guys came past me. Still managed a sub 20hr.

He is not called the Machine here in SA for nothing, beating the previous winning time by something like 3 hours, his average on the whole race (361km's) was something like 25km p/h that is seriously fast and he is already looking better to go faster this year.  If I can still recall he was a bit sick before the race last year.

You do seem to have a knack for 2nd place. If it makes you feel better, we came second at 36One in the team category ;) . You were rather dejected last year, all alone in the middle of nowhere, in the pitch dark. The conditions last year were perfect - you would have been on for a great time if it wasn't for that mechanical.

That Dutchie is seriaaaaas fast. Will have to switch him right at the start. Or take his batteries out his lights.

I'm sure there are enough of you solo guys at the front to come up with a devilish plan. Hang onto his pockets, give him a dead wheel to follow, take a wrong turn, hide his crate of supplies at the checkpoints... somehow, I doubt any of that will have any effect though.

Yes I was sick... I only eaten banana and drink coke with water. But it went okay anyway I guess :)

Isn't that difficult when you so far in front?

I rode on the bunch in the first 100 plus K and was with the other solo riders until 199k after that I did the 162 alone.. using only in the downhills my light.. i used the moon as a guide :)
