  1. Havent entered yet... Havent trained at all for this... on the verge to buy entry to complete my 5th Solo The 36One is calling!!!
  2. I'm so so jealous, this year was our first one with the goal of to enjoy it and finish each day, especially after all the teams that were out by day 3 (it's not something we all get to do every year so make the most of it) I'm already having serious issues of not doing it again next year, to all those that got in, go and enjoy it, it's a REALLY AWESOME experience. (So if anyone is looking for a partner and want to do it with the goal of to finish this race, perhaps look this side, I'm a really patient guy, passionate rider with a big love for the sport and for me to help someone with whatever means of motivation or what else is a even greater reward for me)
  3. You only get 1 medal per year as far as I know, so if you do week 1 and week 2 it wont count as 2 seperate events to get the 5x times shield. You basically have to do it 5years.
  4. Not my kind of bike, at least not now. Took it for a spin yesterday when our LBS just received them and asked me if I want to try it and man its a "fun" toy to have with loads of power.
  5. What a awesome event, it was tough/windy/cold and I thought the organizer had a sick sense of humor closer to the end when I realized that there was the whole time 10km's more since the first distance markers started showing (but hey, its some free km's at the end of the day) I felt sorry for some of the guys going of Swartberg Pass pushing their bikes and some of them screaming from the top of their lungs F&^%# But I'm sure they were all happy to get that medal in the end, I will definitely be back and hopefully on a Gravel Bike, they were just flying past me on the tar downhill sections on my FS MTB. I'm also sure this event will still get a lot bigger.
  6. ahhhhh, was keeping my eyes pinned on this one. Well done Guy & Patrick, hope you guys have a awesome Lesotho Sky.
  7. Might be the shortest but you failed to mention it was the most climbing per km and a lot more technical than before as this was the biggest issue people had regarding the previous routes, hence all the dehydration that took part as people had to work for every km and didn't had a lot of open district roads with free km's to work with. Oh I forgot, you didn't get a entry to do it, so you won't know, hence why I don't get it why you give such half comments. Like the others said, if you don't have the money to participate don't come and moan here, create your own route make it affordable for everyone and do your own thing. I find it fascinating how people these days like to sit behind their keyboards and complain about everything just to have it their way. I take my hat off to Kevin Vermaak for doing what he did, making his money and that he can continue to increase the fee and demand is most definitely still there to do it with record sales.
  8. Yes, Philip will be concentrating on Olympics this year, but none the less Gert & Mathys is a deadly combo.
  9. @dominikos
  10. Was in Cape Town over the weekend for the Cape Epic Riders Workshop and we went for some training thereafter at Hoogekraal & Meerendal, this was taken at the top of Dorsberg at Meerendal with my iPhone 6+
  11. Did it for the first time last year, just after I started cycling in 16h42m and came in just before 03:00 in the morning, this year it felt even more difficult for me but we did it in 13h33m and came in 23:30, knocking 3h30m from our previous time, super happy with the results. My partner this year was also a lot stronger then my previous partner. Previous Partner struggled this year and pulled the plug at 175km's Awesome race and one of those events that's on the list each year.
  12. Timo will probably break the record time he did last year.
  13. Ah sorry, didn't knew that Strava change the ascent when uploaded from your bryton/garmin gps
  14. Hehehehe, 3000m of climbing... more like 4000m did it last year and you can check all the uploads on strava from phones/brytons/garmins all showing 4000m
  15. According to someone from Ecobound the route is pretty dry this year, but the road looks bad at some parts. (just some info)
  16. True that, but I stay right next to Knysna, so I can do Harkerville any other day, I'm just doing the road to do something different and enjoy the whole race vibe and increase my yearly (once a year road cycling... the Cape Argus) to 2 road races a year
  17. Also entered the 80km MTB and entered the 109km road race also, but will do it with the MTB, see a lot of guys did it last year with a MTB, so why not, the more the merrier
  18. no worries Mr.E, I had a accident on day 2 of the Sani2C and finally the Dr. gave me the go ahead a couple of hours ago to start with some road cycling again, so now I can also start with training again for the TB, so just over 3 weeks off the bike and going for a 100km cycle on Saturday
  19. I like the idea that the route is unmarked and that they offer assistance a km into the wrong route, everyone knows that you must read your directions you receive at registration. But they do offer some help if you take the wrong turnoff, I mean... what is a extra km if your going to do 240 of them. I did it last year and I'm a total novice rider and its a really easy route to follow, its not like your going to get to a section and the road splits into 3 sections and you have to choose which way to go.
  20. Added my order, still waiting for there response, seems like +- 2 months after you place the order. http://www.meerendal.co.za/PressedbybikesSA.aspx
  21. Only bad experience we had was that my partners box was nowhere to be found on the second day, after rescheduling massages in the hopes that his box will be found and walking past every single tent just to make sure someone didnt took the wrong box his box finally pitched up around 19:30 that evening and they told us they found is in Scottburgh.
  22. Our first Sani, UNBELIEVABLE ride and experience, unfortunately I had a accident on the second day around 18km into the race a nasty fall total dismount from the bike, flying off with bike coming from behind and went shoulder/head first into the singletrack at around 40km/h downhill. Initially though my shoulder were off. Medics at WP2 wanted me to rather stop the race and I told them I already did 60km's with my pinky (which was in extreme pain) and will finish the last 30km's and see the doctor at the finish line. Doctor told me the pinky is broken and was given some painkillers and strapped the finger. Ended up finishing the whole Adventure, broken pinky and all, and mostly cycling the last day with 1 arm (my shoulder and pinky was just in too much pain. Today its xrays/sonars ect. but damn, Farmer Glen and his team/sponsors put a great ride together and missing it so much already. Well Done!!! After seeing doctors/xrays/sonars I have a slight AC joint separation and broken fracture in my pinky, seeing Orthopedic on Wednesday and hoping for no surgery on the finger.
  23. How is that possible, you guys suppose to be in the same group
  24. Awesome feedback there and review, I totally agree with you and we were actually talking about it the whole time regarding: Big prize money going to relay teams, the race is actually about 360ne distance The should rather call it 2x180 relay or 4x90 relay Riding the full distance is whats it's all ABOUT Well done to you and your wife
  25. Mine and my partner too, nerves kicking in big time now
