Best video/sound editing software to create training vids

I've done Sufferfest to death, and now want to create my own IDT videos.

I have no idea what software is out there, whether there's good freeware or if I have to pay for a license, etc.

I want to be able to put together a vid that has my own choice of music, that I can chop and change, where I can put up a count-down clock for my intervals, etc.

Any advice would be great, thanks.

Thanks, but I'm trying to avoid agencies, designers, etc. I want to be able to do this in my own time on my PC...

Just crediting the source of the information... :) you can use those 2 packages yourself.

What camera are you shooting the video with?  Windows has Movie Maker and Mac has iMovie which are obviously free.

Adobe Premier is one of the pro options, really requires quite an investment of time and money to get even a basic video production out, there is a lot to learn. And you need kit, lots of kit. faster, bigger, better, cant have enough CUDA cores either

The stripped-down Elements version is a good place to start. There are many others to kick off with.  and a few open-source tools like Avidemux, Avisyth, VirtualDub but those are quite technical and geeky

No camera. Will be using HD TV recordings of the spring classics, grand tour stages, etc. Then will chop and splice to create my own training sessions, add some pumping choons to create a bit of gees, and of course insert the obligatory count-down timers on the vid so I can keep track of each interval.

I don't want premo stuff, just some decent easy-to-use software to put my own training vids together using TV footage and my own music collection.

Completely for my own personal use, not for dissemination to anyone else so there'll be no licensing/copyright issues to worry about.

Pinnacle studio or Cyberlink Power Director..Easy to learn software for those who like editing home videos..Adobe Premier Pro CC is still the best option and After Effects if you want to start putting in special effects other than a page peel transition...Download the trail version of Premier pro CC..30 days access and see if you like it...Adobe has a option where you pay 49$ per month and then you get access to all the Adobe applications(Photoshop, Flash etc.)
