Hello fellow hubbers,

I am looking at upgrading my wheels and hopefully being able to shed about a kilo off the weight of the bike. The 2 options I am looking at are the novatec/frm custom wheelset from evo bikes or the edge xlr29 wheelset from tri-cycles. Given that I can't afford any more than the novas. Which would you guys suggest? Or is there another choice of ten I should look at?

Lots of wheels available for around R5k. I'm a big fan of Fulcrum's and saw the new Red Power HP at Solomons for around R4500. You will not go wrong with a nice set of Eastons (EA70 ~R5k) or Crests on Hope Hubs (R6k). Read some good reviews on Novatech wheels as well.

I have a set of Red Power wheels looking for a home. 20mm Through axle front and 12mm rear.

Make me an offer, will post pictchas when I am back home. they are currently complete with rotors, Maxix Ikon Tyres (Front is in good nick, back not so much) and cassette (cassette is relatively new) Tubeless conversion done as well.

I would love to shed some weight on my mtb, but since I push my scale to 110kg's, I reckon I should start about 6 inches north of the knob... :whistling:

I have lost around 12 kilo's since I started riding around 18mths ago, just saying...

I'm waiting for the AC Wide Lightnings to come back into stock early December and will be going with them ... I think ...

Only bad thing I hear about them is the engagement of the hub, but I guess one gets used to it. Who free wheels in any case haha. The width on them seems like a game changer, being 32mm where most rims are 20-25

Figure I will be dropping close to 1kg in weight on the rims and tyres together from my current Giant PXC2 rims.

They're going for R5900 at 1569g, on summitbikes
