A "big up"

I misread a word you typed and now I have a grammar issue.

Now you are becoming childish, this in itself makes your story appear that it's covered with truths that you have failed to mention.

But good luck with that .

Not much chance of seeing you on the road, if you really are in Vegas?. (unless you are not being honest). I will keep a light burning for you here in Johannesburg RSA. Give my regards to the rest of the cowboys...

Kevin - glad you got good service - but your experience ABSOLUTELY is the OPPOSITE of mine at that store.

Hope they manage to deliver your service to other customers - unfortunately for them I am no longer a customer.

I hear you. I was a big critic also and as a result moved away. But credit where it is due since they have made several changes and employed Heino, things have improved. I got a better result than I expected, without even expecting it, not through my actions but as a result of Heino. I'm not promoting them bye the way...

Hi, Guys..

I thought I would put this out there as when it occurred I was a little taken a back. What took me back a bit was the positive attitude, level of commitment, an apparent level of service that you would associate with professionalism or indeed someone who cared about the customer. As already mentioned, and as you can imagine, I was surprised.

Add into the mix what seemed to come across as knowledgeable directness, sprinkled with a leadership style, which endeared reassurance, and “hey presto”.

I must admit I was now feeling as if I was transitioning into a better space, a space that had an affect and began to make me feel more confident and comfortable. This was a Specialized Concept Store, “WOW” Hubbers they don’t even sell my bike brand, go figure…

Anyway let’s back peddle a bit……….

After my LBS had unsuccessfully resolved my rear XTR cassette problem (diagnosed as oval rivet hole on sprocket 5/6 - i.e. these two sprockets were moving), and had no Shimano spares, with which to help me out, I took it upon myself whilst at my brand LBS to give Heino a call at Concept Cyclery. I explained the current situation…

I was taken aback at the positive and determined attitude, something you associate with the “old days”, you know guys when men were men and sheep had a colonial ascent!. It was almost Arnie..ish, the voice said “Bring your bike here now”, “I want to fix it”. "Baie manhaftig en doelbewus”. I got into the car (I had forgone my ride in the morning thinking my LBS would fix the problem, but they didn’t, good coffee though?) and drove down to Melrose Arch.

Heino was waiting, like a Harley Street surgeon he was ready. Jislike.., you should have seen how quickly this problem was addressed. Heino took the sick patient away and removed the rear cassette, quicker than a "German tourist can whip out a beach towel and hog the swimming pool” and straight after, the Shimano cassette was taken off his own personal bike and fitted onto mine.

I am going to take this XTR cassette back to the supplier in the morning “he said” in a very controlled and terministic type of way (I noticed he had a very short haircut, which made me think is he human, half human, half machine - the Mechaniator…?., go he said, go and ride your bike, right I said, however it was now 16.00hrs “ en ek het nog nie die hond geneem vir sy daaglikse wandeling deur die burbs.

Heino had already said he was going to take the XTR cassette back to the Shimano guys , so verbeel jou my verbasing en dankbaarheid toe Heino terug kom met 'n replament XTR kassette Hoe is dit vir kliënte diens. The point of this “Big up” is to say a big thank you to Heino and the joking apart to the Concept Cyclery Team at Melrose Arch. As you Hubbers know, things like this just do not happen to often in bike shops, and the fact that someone (Heino) bothered to do what we all expect our own LBS to do but don’t says it all - Thanks Heino. Very decent bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon on the way

P.S. All I need now is the seal replacement kit for my SID World Cup Fork from Cape Cycles. I have only been waiting nearly three months…….?

Great read, and nice knowing there are still people out there who have a passion for their job and doing their utmost to solve a problem.

On the Sid WC seals issues, is this due to CC not having stock or your LBS not ordering?

Oh and what seals do you require?

On the SID WC issue. Its a long one, but it is a case of yes there is stock and no the deliveries have not arrived, or the deliveries will be in next week, or I will be dropping off the seals next Wednesday, etc, etc. To be honest it is now firmly in the hands of my LBS, especially after yesterdays discussion. I am told my stanchions are moving slightly and that the internal bushings (part of the seal kit) need to be replaced. Do you believe they cost R150.00 and apparently the service takes about 1-1.5 hrs. You may know better. My SID is 2013.

Cape Cycles of late have in my opinion not been up to scratch in the processing of orders, ie: wrong stuff sent, next day delivery taking over a week, etc. They are how ever going through a bit of a rough time to my knowledge with at least two major staff leaving. This is my no means an excuse.

If your SID WC is 2013 it will be the first of the non-dual air forks since the 2012 was a dual-air.

To my knowledge the bushings on your fork can't be replaced/removed, something about them being drilled to save weight if I remember correctly. (Will double check tomorrow)

So you would have to replace the lower legs and this I can assure you is not R150.00. and maybe the crown assembly if damaged?

There might be some confusion, and by bushings they actually mean the foam rings and seals?

If you want to contact someone with more knowledge than me drop droo a PM

Will do and thanks for your input. I think it is just the seal kit, so far, no mention of replacing lower legs, according to LBS, et al. Yes it is the first of the non-dual air forks. Outside of CCS is this something that anyone else would stock, or reputable bike shop?

  I have the 2012 model.

Most reputable established shops should stock the RS 32mm Seal & Wiper kit and they should be able to do the lower leg service to.

Rushsports do stock a different brand of wipers and seals, but I would recommend you stick with the RS ones as they have recently improved them (2013 onwards I think).

Otherwise you can buy the parts and do it yourself. https://www.sram.com/sites/default/files/techdocs/gen.0000000004217_rev_a_2013_sid_service_manual.pdf

 sheep had a colonial ascent!

Don't let anyone meddle with your peddle .

I get this feeling you might know someone who peddles wares at said store .

Sheep with a colonial ascent ?

They must be real fine climbers.

Is that a veiled threat of some sorts ?

The formula is simple.

In order to be great-you surround yourself with people greater then yourself.

In order to be positive in life-you surround yourself with positive people.

In order to become a better cyclist-you cycle with those who can improve your ability.

And so it goes on and on.
