Hi Hubbers

Is it possible to convert 10speed wheels to 11speed? I purchased an 11 Speed group set and was under the impression my wheels are 11speed compatible but they not.  I was wondering if i could just replace the free body with a 11speed one? (Shimano)

I sent my Easton freebody to omnico. They machined the body thinner and wider. I did this as Easton had not released the body's to the market when shimano released the 1 st batch of Dura-ace to the market.

I don't see why you cant buy a new freebody and perhaps dish the wheel a little to install your new groupset.

Good luck

Yes you can just replace the 10spd freebody for an 11spd one as long as your wheel hub manufacture makes 11spd freebody's.

Otherwise just take it to an engineering shop and and ask them to machine the face about 1.5mm further back where you first gear would sit.

You can measure this exactly by using a vernier to measure the difference in the 10/11spd cassettes.

All Mavic (Shimano) road wheels can run 11 Speed

So my 10sp (shimano) disc wheel (Axis Specialized) fit 11sp cassette?? Please tell me this is true....

No, that's not what he said - he was referring to Mavic wheels (with Shimano freebody).

Not all freehubs can be machined and not all hubs can accept an 11 speed free body. If yours can't be adapted you can machine the back of the cassette or drop a cog and limit the the cassette to 10 gears - both these are short term solutions.
