Im pretty sure everyone with a MTB will ride single track all day long, if they were easily available and accessible, also safe. So most will ride where they can. I ride whatever i have available to me, whether it be tar, gravel farm roads or single track, I ride it.

They say you are not a real saaklist unless you have done the Orgust.

Just back from my first Epic we were at a braai and people started talking cycling.

This goose aka airhead asks me "Have you ever done the Orgust"

My wife comments "no, but he just finished the Epic"

Airhead responded with "that's so cute"

Cute? Must have been before you became a vuil Ou...

Within MTB you have your different groups, the dirt roadies who go for distance, time, speed. The Trail riders who just like to get out have fun, the enduro guys who like chilling out on the flats and up hills then hammering it downhill, and then the downhill guys who are just mental and i,m far to old for that malarky now sadly.

Thats what makes it such a great hobby/pastime/obsession.

I rode my fixie on some singletrack this morning. Does that make me a dirt hipster?

Depends on if you were wearing a flannel shirt, but either way you are 50% there :)

I thought mtb was just the type of bicycle you're riding. After that, point it at whatever. Anything's better than not riding.

We'll all be dirt roadies the way the roads are deteriorating;)
