Well if you feel comfortable with them, then there is your answer....

Trick to these things when not sure, is, go with the one you WANT.

Good luck.

100% agree

Also, if you're new to bicycling you definitely want your mechanic close by...

Hallo guys. I'm also new on this site. Seems as all bikes on the classifieds on this site aswell as olx, gumtree and junkmail are sold. I've sent about 15sms's out to ads, with no luck..

Seems as bikes are selling quite fast secondhand. I'm looking for something between R5000-R10000. I will have to look everyday till I find my bike!

Thanks for allowing me on this forum.

Regards

Got my GT zaskar for around that budget , check it out its a great bike for the bucks

Thanks - I am going to check out the GT Zaskar.

Any thoughts on the Merida Big Nine 500 (2015). That's the one CWC recommended and I do quite like the look of it. I just don't know enough to compare the specs between the different bikes

Dylan I have the 2012 Big nine 500 and I'm very happy with mine. Go with what you want/like and enjoy it.

So - I can get a Momsem AL429 2014 for R8000, but apparently it doesn't have the original rims on it, which I understand is one of the big advantages with that bike...

One thing I would keep in mind is that the price the shop is advertising the bike at is not necessarily the best price. The market is so competitive it is worth asking them is what the best price they can do (if you pay cash) or what else they can will throw in (full service, tubeless conversion etc).

Now I am not saying be a d##s and demanding it but in my opion it is worth asking for, as it is for most big purchases, if they say  no worries, win some and lose some.
