Lately I have not been using any gels on rides. I eat a banana ( or two ) pre-ride, and sometimes a PB and syrup sarmie. During my ride I drink up to two bottles of mixed energy carbo drinks from USN. This seems to help. I have sufficient energy, haven't bonked in ages, don't feel flat at all and best of all I never cramp, besides the times this happens when I sit in front of my laptop.. ^_^

Hey Guys just interested, still learning the ropes.  Do you still pack a water bottle and a carb drink bottle and the honey packs or do you just replace the carb drink with the honey packs?

You still need to keep hydrated, with water for shorter rides and something extra to replace lost electrolytes as you ride for longer than say 1 hour. The honey mix replaces commercial energy gels though.
