I'm guessing front wheel gets more punctures due to it being "first" to go over the objects?

The weight bearing wheel / rear works very hard and is often more susceptible to debris

Hey guys,

 

Thanks for all your input and advice. I ended up going with the Gatorskins. CWC had an awesome deal on them, taking them for my first spin tomorrow/Saturday. Will definitely be an improvement on the Ultra Sports.

i have serious issues with any Conti, not so much the tread area but more the sidewall, they always get cut there.....

do your self a favour, get a set of Vredenstien, really great value for money and the sidewalls are very thick!

If you are suddenly getting regular punctures it is most likely due to one of three causes:

 

The object that punctured the first tube is still embedded in the tyre and keeps doing its thing;

Your rim tape has slipped and your spoke holes are puncturing the tube;

Your pump gauge is over reading and you are getting pinch flats;

You are pinching the tube when you aeat the tyre.

 

 

Have you determined what the punctures look like and whether they are in a consistent position. Always the first step.

I did determine what it was. It was glass and sharp stones. Always made sure of all the things you mentioned - Conti Ultra Sport just aren't very durable tyres.
