I have XO trail brakes and 160mm rotors front and back on my new 29ér that I built. And if anything, I have too much stopping power, especialy at the front. Almost been over the bars on a few occasions already.

203's are big.

You need to use that lever judiciously when you pull hard like you used to as it can result in an OTB incident quite quickly.

Enjoy

i figured 180 and 203 rotor about same price and i will have to buy an adaptor to mount either way so why not go with the bigger one

Bigger isn't always better.

Can you fork handle a 203??

Would changing my Disc rotors from a 180/160 to a 203/180  ( front / rear shimano m series ) will make much difference,

or would it be better to wait till i can afford a complete better system

Lots of benefits to this.

Ability to stop on a R1 coin means you can brake later for corners.

Excellent modulation.

Stoppies become easier.

They look sick.

There are many options for disc rotor mounting - International Standard (IS), centerlock, Cannondale's 4-bolt pattern, Hope's 5-bolt pattern and Rohloff's 4-bolt pattern, to name a few.

So it exists, but I haven't seen it..

Thanks for this. I found the Hope 5 bolt system in archives on their website....looks like they dont use it anymore. When you consider the benefits of interchangeability and parts availability it kinda makes sense to stick with the IS 6 bolt system. Cheap, effective, simple, universal....

Your bike, your money, your choice.

I would say go for it. You will be happy.

What brakes are you running btw?
