Well I guess there are advantages to half the field getting lost - no bottle necks. We might have solved the lack of skills in mountain biking causes queues debate.

Agree with most comments, did enjoy it though. Last 10km on Sunday was incredibly tough, especially since most of us thought the race would be over by then (commentator said Sunday would be fast and around 45km, ended up being around 51km.

With a bit of effort around communication and distances, this could be a great race! Must say with regards to walking, it was a refreshing change from for instance the Magalies Monster. The only time people walked this one(except on the last 10km), was when it was truly unridable.

got to jumpertrax site for results....

Has anyone been able to actually get their results from this site? On my computer, I just get this nice blue graphic at the bottom of the page, and nothing else?

The event was average. Not sure why they use such horrible route markers. In several places those correx arrows were just blown over and easy to miss. We got lost twice on Saturday and then on Sunday we saw a whole bunch of riders coming over the ridge who cut out that entire new single track section. Not sure how they missed that turn as the sign was there when we went into that section 20 minutes before.

The best route marking ever was at PE2PLETT. Simplicity at its best. 2 luminous tags on the grass / trees/ fence etc 50m from turn on the side of the road of the turn, then 1 tag at the turn. Then they had a different colour tag a few meters down any trail where you could go wrong. A blind man couldnt get lost with those markings. Surely there is merit in standardising route marking to a best practice????

I didnt need to stop at any waterpoints so cant comment. On a 2-3 hour ride do you really need more than 2 waterpoints with just some basics? Water / Energy drink and a Bar one is more than sufficient.

That Hamburger they served on Saturday was without doubt the worst slop I have EVER been served at any event. i wouldnt give that to my dog. I cant believe Mount Grace would serve **** like that as I have stayed there on many occasions and the food is superb. Must of been supplied by the organiser. The free ice cold Bavarias were lekker at the finish on Sunday.

Overall I really enjoyed the route. I would love to give that steep rocky climb another bash as I am sure its rideable but I didnt have the legs after burning all my matches on that quick stretch of district road.

That MTB specific clubhouse Mount Grace have built for their new Bike Park is super impressive :)

Overall a 6/10 event.

Rocky climb at around 40km was very rideable. Had to ask people to walk off the path so I could ride it but even a back marker like me managed to ride up it

Agreed, the rocky climb was very rideable, that is why I walked off the path. ;-) Still can not see the results...
