Road Pedals on a Mountain bike

Hi there,

Just want some advise, I broke one of the "loops" on my crank brother pedals and have an event next weekend.

I don't want to spend money to buy new pedals and also due to the amount I paid for entry fee (yes its a triathlon) I dont want to risk not racing with a broken pedal, so I'm concidering sticking my road Pedals (Keo Easy Pedals) on my mountain bike.

Please share thoughts if this will work, the route will not be very technical.

Regards

Pieter

I see no reason why it shouldn't work as I have used my SPD pedals on a road bike with no issues. The only downside I can think about would be the damage done to your road shoes should you need to uncleat on a rocky section...I assume you will be using your road shoes?

Good luck with the race!

It will work, but as mentioned you will need to be very careful when you unclip out on the trail. You can slip and hurt yourself due to the lack of grip or you can damage your shoes.  If you're confident you won't need to then there's no reason to do it.

Thanks guys that answers my question, event with mountain bike cleats I would still use my Tri shoes with 0 grip, but hopefully (according to the profile) it should be a lekker flat race, road cleats it is then.
