Whats a good size Camelbak?

Camelbak Rogue 2l for when I just want to get on and ride, and then the DaKine AMP 25l (with 3l bladder) when I don't know how long I'll be gone.

The Rogue is big enough for water, multitool, chain breaker, phone and some rudimentary tools (tubeless plug system and tyre levers with needle & thread, shock pump, normal pump) but not much more. I can strap my pads to the back of it if I need to, but that blocks the pouches so it's not really ideal

The AMP packs everything I'll need. Shock pump, normal pump, full complement of tools (individual allen keys, cable ties, superglue, tubeless patches & plug system, needle & thread, lube, extra sealant, jacket, pads - knee & elbow, goggles, phone, wallet, tyre levers, spare tube and lights) as well as 3l water, any food I'd want for the ride and a few more bits n bobs. That's the one that stays in my car at all times, so I can just pack my bike and be off. I've been made fun of quite a bit for packing everything, but for me it's simple - extra weight means more training, and I've helped myself and a LOT of other people who otherwise would have had their rides ended very far from the parking lot.

I've also used this for commuting and would use it on hikes without hesitation.

If I were to buy again, I'd probably go for something with a *bit* less space, but not much. You can always choose not to pack it all in there, and then have a general bag as well.

3L. If you only do races with waterables you can go with less, but if you ever plan to do 4+ hour rides by yourself you will regret the 1.5 or the 2 litre jobbies.
