My 3 mth old SL929 cracked just behind the BB, not a happy chappy. Waiting to hear what Momsen say about the frame.

Really ridiculous that some people on the hub still praise Momsen, when clearly they have MASSIVE issues on their carbon frames. You lucky with 3 months, mine was not even 30 days, no falls, no bike racks, nothing. Just plain jeeptrack riding. Swak Momsen.

Jeepers that's crap news. What was the feedback from Momsen on the frame?

They blamed me, obviously, my local bike shop sorted it luckily. Took more than 4 weeks, luckily

I had other bikes. Got the replacement frame and sold it the next day.

I am a massive Spez fan, but if you want a great, reliable, value for money dual supension marathon bike, with great backup service. Buy a Giant Anthem X adv.

Wow so i better not hold my breath on getting a replacement. Gonna be pissed if they don't replace it. Yes the giant anthem x is a great bike.

I have owned 6 Momsens, three of which carbon, and I haven't had a single issue on any of them. 2 of those are still around and going strong.

I have never physically met anyone who's had an issue on his / her frame. Only ever heard of a guy who knows a guy. Not saying it's never happened.

Just like the Ibis' *whistles*

On your 3 carbon Momsens, how many km's did you do on them, and did you do any races, adventures, etc... I'm not trying to be funny, would just like to know....

My riding partner is not happy with his Vipa, We were riding down our local trail, there is a point where the trail dips and bottoms both front and rear suspension, I broke 3 bikes ( at that point, s-works Epic, a CX bike and mongoose canaan.

The Vipa cried in agony, and I am sure  it now has a little crack around the top of the seat tube. The creaking and groaning on the way home suggested the hunch is true, when he stood no noise.

He got the bike 3 months ago.

Udate on the situation, made an arrangement with my dealer, and sorted with a bike for the race. This thread is turning into a heartbreak segment, but never the less I will add my 2c. MTBs are going to break, I have yet to hear about a perfect bike. I have a Giant anthem x advanced, the carbor cracked, and I am lead to believe that this is a rather regular occurrences, it is just never said out loud, send the bike in about 5 weaks ago, nobody can tell what is going on there. I am rather new to cycling and might be talking out off my ass, but the way I see it is there is a chance that your bike will break no matter what you buy!

That STR frame is just plain shoddy, sorry I would never accept rubbish like that. Even a Makro Raliegh has its bottle lugs welded on straight. Even more concerning is that Momsen finds it "OK" to continue to supply rubbish workmanship like that.

All bikes break its the nature of the sport. Its the speed and willingness to sort out the issue that seperates the brands out there.

I was impartial to Momsen and gave them the benefit of the doubt and as a SA bike brand I wanted them to succeed, but thats changed after reading this thread......

Just Imagine how the hub would of flamed Spez if you replaced the words Momsen with Specialized througout this thread?? Just saying.....

I am amazed at how many people have broken their frames in their riding careers.

I have been riding MTB for 24 years now and never broken or creased a frame - OK I weigh just shy of 70 kg but I do ride hard as hell.

Gosh you guys are either very heavy or maybe it's only the carbon frames that are breaking?

What I would like to know: bar the Vipa, how many of Momsen's bikes are designed/engineered in-house or are they just generic crap bought in Asia and made pretty with a few Momsen decals.

The number of alu Momsens breaking is particularly concerning.

Surely if the guy is bottoming out his shocks (both of them) then it's the setup of the shocks that are the problem?

You are just lucky maybe, but maybe you don't ride as hard as you say. When guys start to try and get their bikes as light as possible breakages are going to happen.
