Anyone seen this before? Its only 2 teeth on the smaalest front chainring, brand new bike, first rode it yesterday.

Can I just bend it back? Does it need to be replaced?

You can bend it back for an emergency ride but I would replace it. The cost is about R200 and the chances are that it will damage your chain and sub sequentially the rest of your drive train and that's R2500 to replace.

As Rat has mentioned above, replacing that chain-ring is the only option. (because even if you've manage to bend it back to shape, those 2 teeth on the chain-ring will be weaken a lots; Those 2 bended teeth will snap off from the chain-ring eventually.)

btw, what make & model was that bike that has this particular issue? (Just for interest sakes)

Thanks guys. Its a Titan Sport 29er, 2015 model.

Think I will change it, I'm on holiday in the Cape, don't have a lot of tools with me.

Side impact from a large pointy rock, during a fall... in closer inspection the centre chainring also has a hit. Chain keeps on bumping. Will go into Worcester in the morning looking for a LBS to help me out.

I replaced miy middle chainring(32t) this week. Lost a tooth. Cost me R180.

My advice is just replace it, its no use fighting with an LBS over R180.

Replace. It will never be the same again. That normally happens if you change between chain rings and don't release a bit of pressure on your pedalling.

With respect, but it seems like a bad quality chainring. Or maybe your just kaksterk. :)
