5150 Bela Bela 3hr46, ElevenGlobal 3hr33 and TriRock 7. I know not fast...but I'm getting there.

unless you felt strong after Trirock and focused on training since then for Iron Man I would respectfully suggest you enter 2016 and work towards that.... but its difficult to guage your fitness an readiness based on events that happened a long time ago.

Do Trirock this weekend at Heia and make a final call after that , if you finish feeling comfortable within 7 hours then go for it I say.

If anything I think my fitness improved from TriRock. After TriRock I improved my Olympic distance time and at the beginning of January I improved my half marathon time by 9 minutes. Although I didn't finish East London due to the cramping I still felt strong and wasn't stiff or sore the day after.

But thanks for your advice. I'll think it over. Just don't want an opportunity to go by!

I never run the risk of being over trained. :D

I hate taking rest days , they make me feel guilty and I get all restless for the day..however I know I need to.

I will be in the undertrained group come 29th of March... I know that and will be relying on good weather and grit to get me to the end. I just cant find the time and inclination to put in 25 hour weeks....don't want to win iron man...just want to finish.

Hehe. Welcome to my club. ;) I can only squeeze out about 15 hours of training on a good week. Managed a 13 hour IM on that the last time, so hope for the same this year. But ag, if it's 14 hours, so what? Just there to enjoy the spirit of the event.

that is my thinking, truth be told I don't think my body will handle 25 hour weeks anyway...as it is the training I am doing is beginning to kill me I suspect...slow lingering death :)  aiming for a solid 13-16 hour event anyway. If all goes well should get close to 13 hours, if not then closer to 16 hours :)...but damn, I am getting amped

Ja looking forward as well. Missed last year, so keen to be back in PE again. But ja, I just don't want to train more than 15 hours/week. I already have a job, don't want my training to feel like a 2nd job!

25 hours a week! IM training? any training?  I wish I could (a) find the motivation to do that (b) time © no way my body will handle that; unless 15 hours of that is cycling, but then my mind will not be able to handle it.  Also, I do think there will be a serious food shortage in the Western Cape.

Nooo I am quite happy with 13-15 hours sustained from +/- December / January to March. Agree with the rest days - given the already low volume, I do not really take many. Sometimes when I just cannot get myself to go out, I will take the day without guilt.

Sooo looking forward to it though.

I feel the same. Anytime between 13 and 16 and I will be happy with my race! Getting so excited for my first! Just now need this training week to get better haha

...25 hour weeks...

Who are these inhumans you speaketh of?

You are either unmarried, unhappily married, happily married and very rich or pro to fit in 25 hours a week... and I'm none one of those.

This can't come soon enough for me. The training on top of work is really straining family life more than anything else and I don't like that. Friday: work, work, work, long run, fooked. Saturday: child duty so mum can have day off, swim an hour and a bit somewhere. Sunday: all day out on bike/combo sessions, fooked.

Enough already.

But yeah, for me by my own? Seriously exited, shitscared, borderline bipolar, but never a dull moment.

Can't wait!

Well you know that's why finishing the IM means so much more (and the post event beer tastes so much sweeter) for us normal folk with normal day jobs, family commitments etc. You hang in there bud!
