100mm fork on Pyga OneTen29???

I've recently become the proud owner of a Pyga OneTen 29 frame, and am looking to build it up with a limited budget.

The big question I have is whether a 100mm travel fork will have a significant affect on the bike geometry. I know that the recommendation is 120mm travel or greater.

Besides the head angle getting steeper and the bottom bracket height getting lower, what other affects can be expected. Will this affect the bike's handling that significantly?

I will be running shortish stem (60mm) and wide bars (710mm).

Looking forward to responses from the learned members of this forum.

What 100mm fork is it? Maybe it can be internally spaced to 120

Looking at secondhand Reba or Fox.

From some research on the interweb it appears that some Reba's can be spaced to 120mm. How do I know if the Reba I'm looking at can be spaced?

Gonna affect the head angle and handling. And stick to what Pyga have designed it for to rip the trail.

Would definitely prefer to stick to the min 120mm, but struggling to find a 120mm fork to fit my budget.

Sell the frame to me and buy another frame to fit your fork, I have the perfect 140 fork on my Trance that I am dying to put on a Pyga!!

But seriously I would rather put a bigger fork on that frame than a smaller one, rather see what you can get for your current fork and use it as a trade in on a 120 at least

I had a Reba 90mm go to 100mm, so pretty sure you can go to 110mm at least, which will be fine for now. Then save up, get a Pike 140mm, and love life all over again.

That's what I'm doing saving for the Pike.

I cant even describe how good it is, its just magical. I have a 130mm Pike on my Stumpjumper fsr.

Fully agree with the Pike. Planning to get one at the end of the year after saving up a bit. The fork I get now will be a stop gap measure until I've saved up enough for the Pike.

Yea I'm going 140mm and with the 51mm offset more suited to the 29ers now.

Was thinking of a revelation but for the extra 3k or so the Pike blows it out of the water.

Ja, was also looking at those two. Definitely looks like its worth saving the extra cash for the Pike. Mind you the X Fusion forks don't look too bad, especially when you consider the prices.

But keep in mind the maintenance costs etc on the Pike vs Xfusion over the long run and spares availability. That Pike is the giant killer and its built RS tough, never mind the resale value when that day finally rolls on by.

The Xfusion does have a longer service life but when it need to be serviced it has to be sent to the Distributor and it takes a while to get back, also parts a issue.RS at least the parts are easily available and your LBS can service them.
