Took my CAAD 8 in for a noisy bottom bracket today. Workshop discovered that the conversion from the original BB30 to fit a Shimano 105 crank was incorrectly installed causing the failure.

When I advised that they had done the original conversion, today's repair was done at no charge!!

BTW the original work was done in May 2012, hows that for guarantee on your work!!!

Yoh.... How do you get that wrong in the first place? It's just an adapter/shim with spacers? I can't imagine how it can be installed "incorrectly"...

Very easy in a busy workshop. Inner circlip was not properly seated and the one adapter was pushed in too far. and the wrong spacer washer was installed. Anybody can make a mistake.

The point here is that they could easily have kept quiet about it, fitted a new adapter and charged me about R600.00 for the job. I appreciate the honesty far more than the R600.00 saved!
