Hi all....

Has any every had to replace just an XT brake lever? Are they sold separately anywhere in SA? I have tried one or two places and have been told that I will have to buy an entire new set of XT brakes.... That's just way too much :(

I fell a while ago and snapped the dam mount, now I have to ride around all ghetto...

Not sure if you'll get just the one side in SA. I couldn't.

But CRC does sell them seperately; last when I checked the price at CRC was about R800 (for XTR).

But there was no stock of XTR.

I got a set of levers from Cajees (so had to buy both levers) - but not a complete brakeset.

You can fit any shimano brake lever as a temp measure so that it does not stay ghetto, you might be able to pick up a lever whilst your source one overseas if cannot get here. Am sure a few hubbers have old brakes levers lying around.

I did purchase a while back from CRC some levers for xt calipers that I had.

You might talk to your lbs and see if they can order just the lever from the shimano agents, think they are coolheat.

I made the experience, twice, that Shimano agents left me in the rain. CRC is selling brake levers, and it is an easy job to do.

Your ghetto fix however doesn't look to shabby either!

Luckily you only have to replace the lever. I need to replace the brake and then ran into issues that the I-spec type A I have are tricky to find, and the newer type B doesn't fit into my shifters :-(

pity I have a left one in the box as I broke the right in a fall had to buy a pair R2000 without calipers

I want what you smoke, For 2 grand you could have go the goods from crc plus a few drive train spares.

LOL yip was a bit of a noob on the spares side of things a year ago, and there was no XT spares at all in SA local LBS actually stripped one(SLX) off a new bike for a race, I did shop around locally and were all around the R1800-R2200 but nobody had stock

Crc R385 for the lever

Thanks for the offer man, but my bro is doing an order from CRC as well. Will just throw the lever in with his stuff when he orders.

Is it only the actual lever you have or does it still have the reservoir etc as per the pic?

Yours won't have the calipers and brake lines, I realize that. Maybe post a pic of yours it it is I-spec type A please?

No worries. Think they look the same just the way they screw onto the shifters that differ
