Yeah I agree check your serial, maybe its not your bike, cause that is surely some hectic product. It will work great on car engines though

I would actually love to know, for the purpose of polishing cranks like that....I battled with ol removeall...

Am I right in saying that the cranks were black and now they are polished?

They were completely black and now they are completely silver, like chrome almost

What cleaner does that to a bike? Paint stripper?

I have no clue what they use, Brandon wont tell me, but Im sure he had to have soaked them for a good couple of hours to get them like that

The chainstay "damage" is not caused by funny cleaning methods/chemicals, but, I can tell you exactly what happened to your chainstay, you had at some point, a tube wrapped around it as a "slap sock" the carbon underneath has become "stained" that way, similar to when placing a wet cup on a wooden table, there is a that white mark left behind.

Over time it will get better, this is not isolated, do a Google search, structurally the chainstay is sound still.

If you did not have a tube on the chainstay, then that aint your bike....

I mean I ended up paying to have mine done nicely, if I knew what they used I would make a mint!

looks like completely different crank??

Why would they need to replace the top cap and spacers?

They replaced the top cap and spacers because the cleaner also took off the colour there, unfortunately I didnt get a pic of them before they changed them

My thoughts exactly...

Now I have stripped cranks exactly like those to polished and let me tell you, even with removeall it took two coats and alot of patience to get it like that.

Nevermind the chainstay....

OP your top cap spacers / cap and cranks are the least of your worries....that chainstay...

yoh yoh yoh

Ja its a very heart sore situation, and its just make worse by the way that they handled the whole thing :cursing:

I don't think any remover/cleaner can make a crank shine that smooth. I am sure it will strip down paint no problem however the surface is usually pitted slightly after cleaning off paint.

Reading the shops workshop list of what they cover in their service and attention to detail makes interesting reading. Certainly at odds with what's mentioned here.

Mmm... thats not good. How the hell did they try and get away with it without you noticing it? Maybe they started polishing the wrong cranks

Well, the guy first tried to blame Shimano but when I threatened to call the rep myself, he very quickly changed his story and he said he would sort it out but to this day, nothing has been done

Those cannot be the same cranks, polished like that? Can we see what the other side looks like?

They are shiny, cleaner than having done by a mag repair place!!

...and if this is in fact the case, it is not their fault.
