Great !!! now we can hear the other side... Matt asked us sooo nicely the other day to to just stone someone but to hear both sides and some hubbers took that too far if i read that correct.

Would be an interesting read though.

That colour of that car in my opinion would be "harder to see" if its was a little dark. Im still not a fan of any car parking in any road not just a yellow line (im from gauteng originally where we park inside our yards)!

That said the cyclist must keep his eyes open....

Just wondering how you dont see the parked car? Is it downhill or something and he couldn't stop?

Well Wielle Wentzel ended up in hospital (serious) after doing a similar thing. It just takes a momentary lapse in concentration.

Many years ago I was approaching a robot when out riding with one of my mates... We were busy chatting away, so I didn't notice the stopped bakkie ahead. He did, and kept me chatting. I found out about the bakkie when I was lying in the back of it....

No damage caused and had the p*ss taken out of me for a while..

Jeeez maybe consider being more selective who you call friend. That happened to a pal of mine and he ended up in hospital for 2months while his femur healed

So I was cycling down this stretch of toad yesterday morning and realized that at the time the rider in question had his accident the visibility must been pretty bad.

At around 6:30 in the morning the sun is very low and almost directly ahead of you. If you're wearing dark sun glasses the glare of the low sun reduces visibility to around 5m. Couple this to the wind being directly from the front the tendency is to drop your head often.

Low visibility, a bit if wind and the potential for any vehicles to be hidden in the shadow of some high hedges makes this a pretty dangerous stretch of road between 6:20 and 6:50am

Probably need to add this section to hazardous roads

This happened to me when I was a boy about 15 years old.

I was riding back home along a long boring slightly uphill stretch that passes the high school close to our home.  I was staring head low to the road just before it hits my front wheel, and was getting mesmerized by it.  Next moment out of the blue there was no road anymore, but the boot of a car.  Boom!  I landed on the boot of the car and then fell onto my bike and the tar road.  The car was a Mitsibushi Colt I believe.

Tannie climbs out of the car (she was waiting for her son at the school).  "Is jy oraait seun.  Het jy seer gekry?" .  I only managed "Nee tannie" and tried to get away as fast as possible to hide my embarrassment. The bike was my old Peugeot. Solid bike, so the fork was still fine, if maybe slightly bent backwards.

It happens more than we care to admit to fellow cyclists.

any news.....i've got my bag of stones ready and waiting

interesting though that there appears to be no damage to the car bumper...surely that's where the wheel of the bike would have make first contact?
