hellraizer Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 There is a lot of advice like the following:Don’t tilt your seat upward, a position that increases pressure on the perineum.For extra protection, consider wearing padded biking pants.Raise the handlebars so you are sitting more upright.Shift your position and take breaks during long rides.etc, etc... But no one recommends a specific saddle/seat. Any recommendations on brands or types of saddles/seats that is best for protecting your "Johnson"?
Raydek Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I went through a saddle buying exercise recently and found that getting a saddle at the same width as your sit bones is best as most of the pressure is then on those bones and not any sensitive bits, also, look for one with a relief section (groove down the centre). The best is to try and find a bike shop that has test saddles, you can ride a whole lot of different ones before buying to see which one is most comfortable. There is not a one size fits all when it comes to saddles. Also, from my experience more expensive isn't always better, its what works for you...I tested many Stella and Fizzik saddles to end up buying a Giant Contact as it was the most comfortable out of all of them.. Just my 2c..
Wez-O Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'm a big fan of the Specialized saddles and their 'gap' in the middle. Although they have many fans, I find Fizik's to be uncomfortable. So its all a matter of personal preferences I guess.

I find the ones where they use a softer centre padding underneath the cover to be nicer that those that could possibly swallow your nuts

NeoOne Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I have 5 saddles and only own 3 bikes. The lightest, fastest most EXPENSIVE and bad-ass is usually the most uncomfortable! I also sufered with saddle sores if I rode more than 3 rides a week. I had been in the market for a long time and found Adamo saddles at the Africa cycle fair. I dont suffer with sores and cancomfortably get lower and ride in drops longer. In short....best.purchase.I.ever.made!

The best saddle is the one that is right for YOU. Get yourself measured by a fitting specialist who should also give you test saddles to try out.
