HeadPhones Behind the Neck Wanted..

Just a stupid question.

Why would anyone want to cycle with music in their ears in the first place ?

They must be getting bored.

I find it distracts me and takes me away from what I am out there to do in the first place.

Having the wind in my face and ears, hearing the birds sing, my mates chirping, cars hooting and the crunching sound of my tyres on the dirt.

It's obviously personal preference but as I ride alone I like listening to podcasts/audiobooks/talk radio and I don't find it detracts from the biking or nature experience. In fact I find it easier to ride harder and longer with this and I get to "read" an extra book or two a week.

I find when riding on the road alone that some serious psytrance helps with the cycling beat

With MTB i never cycle with music.. i want to hear the world around .. bit the road is different

Forgot to add.

Klipsch, Nuforce and Marshal have some nice micro in ears for just over a grand.

If you want to take it more serious go for Audiofly.

If you get really serious then invest in some Ultimate Ears .

Ooohhhh...

Those look good.

Canalphones (like the Ultimate Ears above etc.) are generally better at staying where they're meant to - BUT they offer much greater isolation, you'll generally block out all the other sounds. Kinda want something in the middle for safety?

Sennheiser PMX680 is an ok choice (sports orientated), depending on how you feel about Senns (kinda like the specialized of audio gear. Them or Bose. whatever). Cheaper option would be the AKG K316.

Those are both sports orientated pairs and will still be miles better than Philips ones.

Then there are these which I just found: http://www.aftershokz.com/product/sportz-3/but no idea how good the sound is with that desgin..

delivering sound through the listener’s cheekbones to the inner ear.

 BONE CONDUCTING!

Might be something I need to check out now....

I can't believe that. I have the Phillips neckband earphones and I can tell you, they almost have too much bass!!

They definitely have more bass than my Samsung, iPod and Sennheiser CX Sport earphones.

For R350 don't expect too much, but I'd say they are pretty damn good for that price.

Maybe I got a bum pair. They were nowhere near as good as the stock iPod phones that I wore out and the R150 cheapie round the neck that I subsequently wore out.

I use them for running not cycling so audio quality standard required is not that high. Philips failed miserably but after your comment, maybe I will try another pair. The Sennheisers are just too pricey for getting sweated on profusely.

Yeah, but need to weigh up audio quality vs safety when out on bike.

Apparently they are on par with stock buds in terms of quality, but you can still hear atmospheric noises.. So I guess not for everyone.

otherwise get a pair of Etymotics and block out EVERYTHING and enjoy high quality sound  :w00t:
