Fox RP23 leaking oil from rebound/lock-out shaft

Good morning fellow Hubbers,

My Fox RP23 is leaking oil from behind the rebound/lockout knobs - quite a substantial amount, I think all the oil has leaked out.

It appears I am having a seal failure on a tiny seal on the rebound/lockout shaft. This thread on MTBR describes what appears to be my problem: http://forums.mtbr.c...nob-660082.html

Who can service the shock in Gauteng? Approximate cost?

Thanks,

Dale

You're in for a full rebuild. I'm not sure if there is anyone in Gauteng who can do it? Possibly PM David Marshall, here on the Hub. Alternatively you'll have to go through the agents or contact droo (also on the Hub, but also located in the Cape).

The rebuild in finicky and the last time I got one done (couple years back by JB) it was in the order of R950 so I can only assume it will be more than that.

Good luck.

I just had a complete rebuild which involved replacing all wearing parts as described by the LBS. RP23 was sent to the agents in Cape Town so freight costs were involved and the total was an eye watering R 1800.00 or there abouts. When I complained I was told that I basically had a new shock which really meant "dry your eyes". This also included the repair to the lock out. The mechanic was right in that it is like riding a new shock, very happy. If the agent does it then there is the comfort of a warranty on the work.

Was told I should have gone to a guy in the south, somewhere in the area of where the Boswell Wilkie coffee place is but that may well be Red Hub Cycling?
