Cheaper alternative to Fox Ranger shorts?

Hi peeps,

Been a while since I was on the forum but getting back into riding again....finally! !

I am in need of kit again but I am looking for shorts similar to Fox Ranger shorts. I will be doing mostly trail and single track riding and maybe a little XC once I can do the distance again. My body has been a little neglected thus I am softy these days and I realise I might need some padding for my boney ass but I can't bare the thought of fitting myself into skinny cycling pants.

My riding will not be more than 20km in any given day for a time to come. Honestly I am so unfit that on day one I am expecting to phone for a pickup just after getting around the block to the bottom of the slope from my house. I will also start commuting 10km to work each day soon too.

I will buy better kit as I go along but for now and just to get the ball rolling, and to create some comfort for the transition back into cycling, I want something which will suffice for the basics.

My time schedule is so unorganised that is why I am asking for the tips of what to get because shops are always closed when I find some spare time hence shopping time never happens. I am located in Lonehill area next to Fourways.

Still have my old Bell Faction helmet that will be getting a new lick of matt white paint until I can get another multisport helmet with better ventilation. So now you understand I have a shoe string budget for this belated return.

Any help will be appreciated.

Fantastic. They might actually be what I am looking. I popped them an email for details.

Thanks.

How much are the Rangers going for?

I'm a fan of Endura Humvee but have been rolling mostly in Intrepid Apparel Mission shorts for trail and all day on the bike hacking about. I ride them happily up to 50km odd.

They have a 50% sale on at the moment and if you know anyone coming over from the UK they are unbelievably good, well thought out and stretchy! They come in at about R700 but are built to last.

Getting some new jerseys (race and recon), a soft shell as well as upping my short count when my bro comes out in may.

Swizzle.co.za (autocorrect fail!!) www.swindle.co.za always have good value shorts.

I had a quick look at all the sites given. Swizzle link doesn't seem to sell anything but the others are definitely options although my UK peeps are just returned to their Brit homes. Maybe someone is coming over soon again. I got family coming from Canada in April maybe I must look at some deals that side.

I think swizzle should be swindle.co.za

They sell dakine shorts. I love my dakine shorts. Also take a look at the first ascent and capestorm ranges. You can even get them at some sportsman's warehouse stores.

I've got two MTB Shorts, a First Ascent and a Fox Ranger. I've had the First Ascent for years now, and It's wayyyyy more comfortable than the Fox. So I use the FA for long 2 hour + rides, and the fox for commuting and shorter rides.

Where can I get First Ascent shorts? Want to go take a look. Actually have some spare time this Saturday so will go to a couple of shops to see what they have.

100%! Auto correct on my mac is killing me it takes real words and changes it to other real words or totally made up ones!

Swindle it is. :)
